Getting SoftBank Group Corp. in as an investor at a right price would be a good thing, Uber Technologies Inc.'s new chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi said and stressed the startup has a quality product. Governance during the former company head Travis Kalanick "went wrong," but there was a shift in the meantime, he added at an event in New York.
In Khosrowshahi's words, he told his predecessor: "I need my space." The distance doesn't come in the way of a "good relationship," he stated and praised Kalanick for always being there when he needs him.
"We're on out way... but it's going to take a lot of work," the new CEO claimed and reiterated 2019 is the target for public listing. The ride-hailing giant has a huge value now and the management plans to "get the best" from it and "combine it with a new set of values and norms" to take the firm to the next step, he underscored.
