Uber Technologies Inc. is bringing its services back to Dusseldorf three years after it left the German city due to the problems with German regulations, German Rheinische Post reported on Monday. Including Dusseldorf, the world's biggest ride-hailing service is now present in three German cities, the other two being Berlin and Munich. Uber services will from now include UberTaxi, UberX offering chauffeur rides ordered via Uber app, and UberGreen which offers ride-hailing using electric cars.
Uber was first launched Dusseldorf in 2014 where private contractors drove passengers in their private cars. The service was banned by a court ruling. Since then, the company has tried to adapt its services to the German legislation. The ride-hailing giant is making its second debut in the German city with 100 vehicles, including 30 electric cars. "We have been engaging closely with many local stakeholders, to develop a service that addresses the city’s growing transportation needs, and that ‘gets it right’ this time," Uber stated in a blog post.
