The lower house of Japan's parliament approved on Thursday the government's nominee, Kazuo Ueda (pictured) for the next Bank of Japan (BoJ) governor.
Ueda will have to secure the vote of the upper chamber scheduled on Friday to succeed incumbent Governor Haruhiko Kuroda whose five-year term ends on April 8.
In the meantime, Kuroda will preside over the latest two-day monetary policy meeting, with the rate decision expected upon its conclusion.
