The UK's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) experienced no growth in April 2024, following a 0.4% rise in March, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported on Wednesday. Despite the stagnation in April, the GDP grew by 0.7% in the three months to April compared to the preceding three months.
Service sector output increased by 0.2% in April, marking its fourth consecutive month of growth. However, this was offset by a 0.9% decline in production output and a 1.4% drop in construction output.
The GDP growth of 0.7% over three months is driven primarily by service sector performance, which saw a 0.9% rise. Conversely, the construction sector continues to struggle, with output falling for the third consecutive month.
