The United Kingdom gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.2% in the second quarter of 2023, according to a first estimate released by the country's Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Friday.
The services sector grew by 0.1%, driven by increases in information and communication, accommodation and food services and human health and social work activities and the production sector grew by 0.7% in the three-month period with manufacturing increasing 1.6%.
On an annual basis, the UK GDP is estimated to have climbed 0.4% compared to the second quarter of 2022. Meanwhile, the ONS monthly estimate showed the UK economy grew by 0.5% in June on a monthly basis, following a 0.1% decline in May.
