United Kingdom's retail sales volumes gained 0.1% in November year over year, the Office for National Statistics revealed in a report published on Friday. The reading was above analyst expectations.
Month on month, the figure was up 1.3%, with the biggest contributor to the monthly rise being non-food store sales volumes, which grew 2.3%. "Retailers suggested that earlier Black Friday sales and wider discounting contributed to the increase," it was said in the report. In addition, food store sales volumes increased 0.8%, automotive fuel sales volumes rose 0.6%, and non-store retailing sales volumes edged up 0.2%.
In the three months to November, retail sales volumes decreased 0.8% compared to the previous quarter and fell 1.2% on an annual basis.
