The unemployment rate in the United Kingdom stood at 4.3% in the three months to March, rising from 4.2% registered in the previous period ending February, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said in its report published on Tuesday.
The employment rate for people aged between 16 and 64 remained at 74.5%. Meanwhile, the economic inactivity rate for the same age group came in at 22.1%, slightly lower than the 22.2% seen in February.
Between February and April 2024, the estimated number of vacancies in the country declined by 26,000 quarter-to-quarter to 898,000 but still remained above the level before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
