Polish oil refiner PKN Orlen on Saturday announced that Russia halted crude exports to Poland through the Druzhba pipeline.

According to CEO Daniel Obajtek, the move was something the petroleum company was prepared for. "Only 10% of the raw material came from Russia and we will replace it with oil from other directions. This is the effect of diversification that we have carried out in recent years," Obajtek stated.

The Soviet-built Druzhba pipeline remains exempt from European Union's sanctions against Moscow.
