DeSantis signs Florida abortion ban

EPA-EFE/JUSTIN LANE

Florida Governor Ron Desantis signed the bill banning abortion after six weeks into law, his office said.

DeSantis signed the bill several hours after the Florida House of Representatives passed the legislation dubbed Heartbeat Protection Act with a 70 to 40 vote.

The White House slammed the move, warning the abortion ban will "strip away women’s rights in Florida and imperil access to abortion across the entire South."
