Ukraine officially requested that Germany supply Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev, a spokesperson from the German defense ministry confirmed on Saturday.
The request was received by Berlin several days ago, the spokesperson said, without disclosing whether Germany would fulfill the request.
Despite Ukraine's ongoing requests for these types of weapons, Western allies have primarily focused on providing support in the form of shorter-range weaponry over concerns that Ukraine might use the longer-range weapons to strike targets within Russia's internationally recognized borders.
