Netanyahu: Musk great friend of Israel

EPA-EFE/STOYAN NENOV

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described on Thursday Tesla Inc. and SpaceX Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and X Corp. Chairman Elon Musk as "a great friend" of his country after the latter made a controversial move similar to a Nazi salute during his speech at United States President Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20.

"He visited Israel after the October 7 massacre in which Hamas terrorists committed the worst atrocity against the Jewish people since the Holocaust. He has since repeatedly and forcefully supported Israel's right to defend itself against genocidal terrorists and regimes who seek to annihilate the one and only Jewish state," Netanyahu tweeted. "I thank him for this."

Netanyahu's response came as a retweet of Musk's post in which, amid the criticism he has received for the gesture, he accused "the radical leftists" of taking "time out of their busy day praising Hamas to call me a Nazi."
