The United Nations (UN) Security Council (UNSC) adopted on Monday a resolution urging a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Fourteen out of fifteen members of the council voted in favor of passing the document, while the United States abstained. The decision came after approximately five months of discussions.
Earlier in the day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that his country will not send a diplomatic delegation for a planned visit to the US if the latter does not veto the UNSC's resolution.
