Inventories in the manufacturing and trade sectors in the United States increased by 0.3% in December 2022 compared to the previous month to stand at $2.48 trillion, according to a report by the US Census Bureau released on Wednesday. The figure was 12.7% higher on a yearly basis.
The combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers' shipments in December 2022 was estimated at $1.82 trillion, declining 0.6% from November 2022 but rising by 6.4% year-over-year.
The ratio between business inventories and sales was 1.37 at the end of December 2022, up from 1.29 recorded 12 months earlier.
