The United States conducted a prisoner exchange with China, trading unnamed Chinese detainees for the release of David Swidan, Kai Li, and John Leung, Politico reported on Wednesday, citing a White House official.
The media added that the swap was the outcome of prolonged negotiations involving officials from both the White House and the State Department, in collaboration with their Chinese counterparts.
The exchange is reminiscent of a prior agreement in September, where US citizen David Lin was released through a similar negotiation involving an undisclosed Chinese individual detained in the country.
