The United States Northern Command announced that it deployed USS Gravely, a naval destroyer, to areas near the country's southern border in order to curb illegal immigration.

"USS Gravely’s deployment will contribute to the US Northern Command southern border mission as part of the [Department of Defense] DOD’s coordinated effort in response to the Presidential Executive Order,” General Gregory Guillot, the commander of the Northern Command, said, adding that the destroyer's "sea-going capacity improves our ability to protect the United States’ territorial integrity, sovereignty, and security.”

Gravely is crewed by a US Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment with experience in counter-piracy, military combat operations, alien migration interdiction, military force protection, counter-terrorism, homeland security, and humanitarian responses, according to Northern Command.
