US dollar surges 1.6% as Trump leads in presidential race

The US dollar surged 1.6% late Tuesday as former President Donald Trump pulled ahead in the presidential race, bolstering investors' expectations of a "Trump trade" revival.

At the moment, Trump is expected to get 214 electoral votes, while Vice President Kamala Harris would get 179 votes.

The euro lost 1.63% against the dollar to sell for $1.07472 at 11:06 pm CET. At the same time, the pound sterling lost 1.08% compared to the dollar, trading for $1.28870 a minute later.
