The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) informed on Friday Tesla Inc. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and X Corp. Chairman Elon Musk's SpaceX it determined 63 corrective actions needed to be done on the Starship Super Heavy and ordered it to keep the rocket grounded until the repairs are completed.
The FAA opened an investigation into the Starship Super Heavy after the rocket exploded after its at-first-seemingly successful lift-off in April. The document on the probe read that the FAA found "multiple root causes of the April 20, 2023, mishap" and 63 issued that SpaceX must fix "to prevent mishap reoccurrence."
The agency recommended a series of hardware repairs as well as additional security testing of the rocket. It also called on SpaceX to "implement all corrective actions that impact public safety" and then apply for a new FAA license.
