Biden: America, not China, must lead the age of AI

United States President Joe Biden in his farewell speech emphasized the need for American leadership in artificial intelligence (AI).

Biden described AI as "the most consequential technology of all time," highlighting its potential to transform lives while posing serious risks to privacy, security and society without proper safeguards. He warned against the rise of a "tech industrial complex," drawing a parallel to the military-industrial complex former President Dwight Eisenhower cautioned against in his own farewell address.

Biden urged the US to remain at the forefront of AI development to ensure global leadership and prevent dominance by countries like China. "In the age of AI, it is more important than ever that the people must govern," he said, emphasizing, "As a land of liberty, America, not China, must lead the world into the development of AI."
