The annual inflation in the United States clocked in at 2.4% in March, falling from February's figure of 2.8%, the Labor Statistics Bureau stated in its report on Thursday. Month on month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was down 0.1%.
The energy index tumbled 3.3% for the 12 months ending March, while the figure was 2.4% lower on a monthly basis. The food prices gained 3% in comparison to the same timeframe in 2024, with the monthly reading rising 0.4%.
The core CPI, which excludes food and energy, advanced 2.8% in March year over year, marking a 0.3 percentage point decline from the February reading. Compared to the month prior, the figure increased 0.1% in March.
