The annual inflation in the United States clocked in at 3% in June, falling from May's figure of 3.3%, the Labor Statistics Bureau shared in its report on Thursday. The figure came in lower than the analysts estimated.
Month on month, the consumer price index (CPI) slipped by 0.1%. The energy index increased by 1% for the 12 months ending June, while the figure was 2.0% lower on a monthly basis. The food prices gained 2.2% in comparison to the same timeframe in 2023, with the monthly reading rising 0.2%.
The core inflation, excluding volatile categories of food and energy, was at 3.3% year-on-year, compared to 3.4% in May. Month-on-month, core inflation rose by 0.1%, less than initially forecasted.
