The annual inflation in the United States clocked in at 3.2% in October, falling from September's figure of 3.7%, the Labor Statistics Bureau shared in its report on Tuesday. Month on month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was unchanged.
The energy index tumbled 4.5% for the 12 months ending October, while the figure was 2.5% lower on a monthly basis. The food prices gained 3.3% in comparison to the same timeframe in 2022, with the monthly reading rising 0.3%.
The core CPI, which excludes food and energy, advanced 4% in October year over year, marking a 0.1 percentage point fall from the September reading. Compared to the month prior, the figure increased 0.2% in October. All of the numbers were slightly below analyst expectations.
