The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States rose by 2,000 to 230,000 in the week ending September 7, according to the weekly report published by the Department of Labor on Thursday. The 4-week moving average increased by 500 from the revised average of the previous week to stand at 230,750.
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending August 31 was 1.2%, unchanged from the prior week. However, the insured unemployment number increased by 5,000 in comparison to the week before to stand at 1,850,000. The 4-week moving average saw a decrease of 2,250 to amount to 1,852,500.
