United States President Joe Biden underscored on Thursday that the country's policy remains unchanged on the question of Taiwan, noting that it "strongly opposes unilateral efforts to change the status quo or undermine peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait."

Following the two-hour twenty-minute-long conversation with his Chinese President Xi Jinping, the White House revealed the two leaders discussed " a range of issues important to the bilateral relationship and other regional and global issues, and tasked their teams to continue following up on today’s conversation, in particular, to address climate change and health security."

During the telephone conversation between the two countries' leaders, Xi warned his US counterpart "not to play with fire" over the Taiwan crisis, insisting that Washington abides by the one-China principle and implements the three Sino-US joint communique.
