The United States and South Korean military forces carried out joint military exercises on Friday following North Korea test-firing what seemed to be an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) into the Sea of Japan earlier today.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) confirmed four South Korean F-35A aircraft conducted a flight with four F-16 US fighters, practicing a combined attack formation in the area. At the same time, the South Korean jets exercised striking North Korea's Transporter Erector Launcher vehicles capable of carrying ICBMs.
The drills showed an "overwhelming ability and readiness to strike the enemy with precision," the JCS concluded.
