The United States Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on Tuesday designated ten individuals and six entities, along with four vessels, for facilitating Iran's transfer of "weapons components and weapons systems, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and close-range ballistic missiles (CRBMs) to Russia."
This action, announced today, responds to Iran's recent supply of ballistic missiles and other lethal aid to Russia, which are being used in its aggression against Ukraine. Key targets include Iran Air, which has transported military cargo, and various officials and companies linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The Treasury's measures also affect Russian entities involved in these transfers.
"Iran has opted to intensify its involvement in Russia's illegal war, and the United States, along with our partners, will continue to stand with Ukraine," US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo noted.
