EU car registrations rise 4.4% in August

Passenger car registrations climbed 4.4% in August in the European Union, marking the first monthly increase in thirteen months, according to a report by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) on Friday. In July, registrations were down 10.4%.

A total of 650,305 units were registered in August. All key EU markets made positive contributions with car registrations up 9.9% in Italy, 9.1% in Spain, 3.8% in France and 3% in Germany.

In the January-to-August period, passenger car registrations plunged 11.9%.
