The Biden administration will request a negative Covid test result for persons arriving by air from China following an increase in cases throughout that country, a health official told reporters Wednesday.
According to the new measure, those people over two years old must submit a negative test result within two days of their departure from mainland China, Macao, and Hong Kong. The measure will take effect on January 5.
The move comes after China relaxed its controversial zero-Covid policy. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said earlier that the situation is "generally predictable and under control."
