The United States President Donald Trump's administration is urging Beijing to agree to long-term contracts to buy US energy and agricultural imports, the Financial Times reported. The agreements would be part of a broader trade deal intended to lower the $337 billion bilateral trade deficit with China.
During a visit to China later this week, US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross (pictured) is expected to talk about a list of products which Beijing acquires from other countries, but could buy from the US.
The commerce secretary's visit comes amid reports on US managing to reach a deal that would lift sanctions from the Chinese telecom firm ZTE in exchange for a "substantial fine."
