European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council member and Bank of France Governor Francois Villeroy de Galhau (pictured) said on Friday that he is determined to get inflation down to around 2% by either 2024 or 2025 and that the ECB does not want to provoke a recession.
Speaking at a BFM TV broadcast show, he said inflation should peak in the Eurozone in the first half of 2023 but that the "game is not over", which reflects ECB's President Christine Lagarde's statement on Thursday around an increase in its key rates.
Villeroy also mentioned that the number of rate hikes should not be speculated and that it was too early to talk about the terminal rate.
