Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic announced on Tuesday it would perform its next spaceflight on May 25, making the last step ahead of launching its commercial service in late June.
"Virgin Galactic is a GO for launch. Unity 25 flight window opens May 25, 2023," Virgin noted in a press statement posted on its website. Next week, a team of six astronauts will go on a space ride from Spaceport America in New Mexico to mark Virgin's first spaceflight in nearly two years since it flew Branson.
Virgin's shares surged 3.5% in New York to $4.36 apiece, hovering around March levels.
