Volcano erupts on Iceland's Reykjanes peninsula

A volcanic eruption rocked Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula, triggered by a magnitude 4.2 earthquake, as reported by the Icelandic Meteorological Center.

Rescue teams were deployed to southwest Iceland and a state of emergency was declared in the vicinity, following earlier warnings due to heightened seismic activity.

The Reykjanes Peninsula witnessed three eruptions since 2021, with the latest occurring in July 2023.
