The White House stated on Friday that Hamas did not produce a new list of hostages for release, which is why the ceasefire between the organization and Israel cannot be prolonged.

"We continue to work with Israel, Egypt, and Qatar on efforts to extend the humanitarian pause in Gaza," the National Security Council (NSC) said in a statement shared with the media. "[United States] President [Joe] Biden and his national security team will continue to remain deeply engaged as we look to free the remaining hostages and sustain and expand the international humanitarian response."

Earlier, Hamas blamed the non-extension of the ceasefire on Israel, accusing that country of being "driven by a predetermined decision to resume criminal aggression," which is why it "remained unresponsive" to the group's proposals.
