White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Tuesday that the country is still open to discussing tariffs on Chinese goods, emphasizing that US President Joe Biden's stance on import duties could change.

The press secretary explained that the Trump administration imposed tariffs in a "non-strategic manner," adding that Washington will now focus on devising the best strategy for responding to the policy in a way that is "right for the American people."

Previously, it was reported that Biden would announce his decision on lowering tariffs on Chinese imports this week, as the government has been at odds over Chinese tariffs.
