White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre commented on Friday on the latest G7 decision to implement a price cap on Russian oil, saying it is a ''powerful tool'' to downward the pressure on the energy market, while also targeting Russian President Vladimir Putin's ''biggest source of revenue'' that is being used for funding the current war in Ukraine.
Jean-Pierre also added these measures will ensure oil continues to flow at lower prices to the market so that supply meets demand, while also claiming Moscow has already started offering a discount of 30% to different countries regarding its energy products.
The White House spokeswoman underlined that Washington will continue to cooperate with its partners on this matter and determine the exact price cap level.
