Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told the CEOs of large banks that more mergers may be needed, CNN reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Yellen's comments are further evidence that Biden administration officials are beginning to adopt the idea of bank mergers despite some concerns, the report said.

Finally, despite the latter, the secretary also voiced confidence that the country's diverse banking system is on solid footing in the wake of recent events, the source said.
