Elon Musk's lawyers sent a letter to Twitter Inc. in which they cited the severance payments the company made to its former head of security Peiter Zatko as another example of Twitter's violation of the merger agreement between the two sides.
The entrepreneur's attorneys said that the company did not seek his consent for the decision to pay Zatko $7.75 million nor did it notify Musk about the settlement, contrary to the terms of the original deal.
Musk and other defendants in Twitter's lawsuit "only learned of this payment when Twitter filed the separation agreement with the court on September 3," his legal representatives claimed, adding that the social media's move provided "an additional basis to terminate" the merger.
