Adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Mykhailo Podolyak, on Saturday criticized China's peace proposal as "unrealistic."
"If you claim to be a global player, you don't offer an unrealistic plan. You don't bet on an aggressor who broke intl [international] law and will lose the war," Podolyak argued, warning that the "window of opportunity" is not endless.
In a statement on Friday, Beijing reinforced its position that the West was escalating the Russia-Ukraine conflict, calling for peace negotiations while pleading with all parties to prevent nuclear escalation. Kiev reacted to the proposal by noting that the end of the conflict must include Russian withdrawal from Ukraine.
