Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sent letters to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UN Secretary-General Guterres, calling on the two parties to join Ukraine in facilitating food exports through the Black Sea after Russia decided to halt its participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
Zelensky emphasized Ukraine's commitment to food security and condemned any attempt by Russia to undermine it. He highlighted the success of the deal and proposed continuing the initiative or a similar trilateral format to ensure the operation of a food corridor and vessel inspection.
"The agreement on the export of grain – this is an agreement with Turkey and the UN – remains valid," Zelensky said. "The only thing that is needed now is its careful implementation – and decisive pressure from the world on the terrorist state," he added, referring to Russia.
