Accenture CEO quits post over health concerns

Accenture CEO and Chairman Pierre Nanterme will step down from his position with immediate effect due to issues with his health, the company announced in a press release on Friday.

The press release stated that Nanterme stepped down "for health reasons that were previously disclosed in July 2016." He was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016 and underwent surgery, after which he stated that he would still be actively involved in the IT company's day-to-day operations but would travel less.

Nanterme headed Accenture for eight years, having assumed his post in January 2011. He will be temporarily replaced by Chief Financial Officer David Rowland and continue as his advisor for an unspecified period of time, according to the press release. The company also said that there would be no changes to its business outlook for the second quarter and full fiscal year 2019 that it had previously provided as part of its 2019 earnings announcement.
