AT&T, Time Warner deal to close shortly as DoJ gives up on appeal

The United States Department of Justice (DoJ) will not appeal a court ruling that allows AT&T's merger with Time Warner to go through, according to joint government filings. The deal is set to be completed as soon as Friday.

A federal United States judge ruled on Tuesday in favor of unconditionally approving a merger deal between wireless and broadband giant AT&T and entertainment powerhouse Time Warner worth over $85 billion, thus repealing a lawsuit by the US Department of Justice to block the deal from happening.

In after-market trading AT&T shares rose 0.92% and Time Warner increased 2.04%.
