Bolton says he knew of Huawei CFO arrest in advance

United States National Security Advisor John Bolton said on Thursday that he was informed in advance of the planned arrest of Huawei Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou. Speaking to NPR, Bolton stated he does not know whether US President Donald Trump was aware as well, but added that Washington has been "very concerned" about the smartphone maker.

Beijing called on Canadian authorities earlier to release Meng and asked for charges against her to be made public by the US. Huawei stated that charges against its CFO were not specified. "The company has been provided with very little information regarding the charges and is not aware of any wrongdoing by Ms. Meng," it said.
