Chemical experts arrive in Syria to investigate Douma

International inspectors arrived in Syria to begin the investigation into an alleged chemical attack in the town of Douma, east of Damascus that prompted United States, Britain and France to launch airstrikes against the Syrian regime and its chemical factories.

A team of chemical experts from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, based in The Hague, arrived in Damascus to investigate whether chlorine and sarin were used in the Douma attack, as Western powers say.

"We will ensure they can work professionally, objectively, impartially and free of any pressure," Assistant Foreign Minister Ayman Soussan told AFP. So far there are no reports whether they have traveled to Douma or met with top officials.
