Europe closes lower after economic data

Major European markets closed in the red on Tuesday, following economic data released earlier in the day, most notably inflation figures for the United Kingdom. The key inflation rate stood at 3% in January, unchanged compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, it was reported that output price inflation increased by 2.8%. Following the release of data, British currency slightly rose.

FTSE 100 ended 0.13% lower at the closing bell, with Seven Trent leading the losses, falling 3.39%.

German DAX traded 0.70% lower as the session ended. Electric service E.ON was 1.66% lower, while Infineon Tech followed with a 1.60% drop.

Meanwhile, the CAC 40 finished with a 0.60% decrease. After yesterday's jump, Kering saw a decrease of 3.95% at the closing bell.

The euro advanced 0.60% against the dollar at 5:44:06 pm CET, going for 1.2365.
