European markets open higher on Brexit concerns

European stocks opened in the green on Friday as investors keep eye on the latest developments surrounding the United Kingdom's departure from the European Union as the "meaningful vote" on the Brexit withdrawal agreement draws near. However, there is still no sign that the British MPs will vote in favor of the deal agreed between Prime Minister Theresa May and the EU last year. On the data front, traders are awaiting UK's gross domestic product and industrial production figures.

The German DAX added 0.03% shortly after the open with Lufthansa leading the gains jumping 1.54%. In France, the CAC 40 climbed 0.08% with Orange and Hermes as the best performers rising 1.81% and 1.22%, respectively. The British FTSE 100 rose 0.35% as Taylor Wimpey's stocks added 2.45%. The euro gained 0.19% against the US dollar, buying 1.1521 at 9:17 am CET.
