Kudlow: Trump, Abe to discuss tariffs

United States President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime minister Shinzo Abe will discuss granting Japan an exemption from the steel and aluminum tariffs, Trump’s chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow said on Tuesday. The two leaders are set to meet later today at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

On the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and a possible re-entry of the US into the agreement, Kudlow stated that although there have been discussions, nothing concrete has been considered, explaining that the idea is a more of a "thought than a policy" at the moment. However, he stressed that discussions on trade with China are in no way related to the TPP. "Our trade disputes with China stand alone from TPP," he told reporters at his press conference in West Palm Beach.
