Maduro: Assassination plotters hiding in Peru

Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro stated that a part of the group that attempted to assassinate him during a military parade is hiding in Peru and added Caracas has asked Peruvian authorities to extradite the suspects.

"Some of the criminals, the terrorists have gone to Peru to hide and find protection there. I am calling on the Peruvian authorities to capture and extradite them," Maduro told Venezuelan state media.

The assassination attempt took place last week when the Venezuelan president was attacked by explosive-filled drones while giving a speech at the parade staged to mark the 81st anniversary of the Bolivarian National Guard. Venezuelan authorities identified 23 people suspected of being involved in the plot and already detained some of them. Meanwhile, the attack was claimed by rebel group Flannel Soldiers.
