May: US, UK to work on ambitious free trade deal after Brexit

The United Kingdom's Prime Minister Theresa May stated on Friday that she agreed with the United States President Donald Trump to pursue an "ambitious free trade agreement" after her country officially leaves the European Union. Speaking at a press conference at Chequers alongside Trump, May added that she wants to further economic relations between the two countries, while also ensuring transatlantic unity.

The prime minister also thanked Trump for his support following the chemical attack in Salisbury, while welcoming his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. May pointed out that it is important to engage Moscow from "a position of strength." She went on to stress the need to increase defense spending in NATO and work on the denuclearization of North Korea.
