N. Korea preparing cyber attacks against US - report

North Korea is preparing cyber attacks to gather intelligence on the United States and South Korea, according to a report by Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats, published on Tuesday. The report also cites Iran nad Russia as helping Pyongyang in planning cyber attacks.

"Russia, Iran, and North Korea [...] are testing more aggressive cyber attacks that pose growing threats to the United States and US partners," the report reads.

The intelligence document underlines that Russia will conduct more disruptive cyber operations in the next year, while Iran is stated to continue penetrating US and allies networks for espionage, although "its intelligence services primarily focus on [...] Saudi Arabia and Israel. North Korea is said it would continue "to use cyber operations to raise funds and to gather intelligence or launch attacks on South Korea and the United States."

Earlier this week, US Vice President Mike Pence said Washington is willing to hold talks with Pyongyang while it pushes for denuclearization.
