Gillum concedes race for Florida governor, DeSantis wins

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum (pictured) conceded the race for governor of Florida in the 2018 midterm elections, but praised voters for supporting Amendment 4 which will allow Florida convicts to vote in future elections. Gillum's statement means the next Florida governor will be former Republican Representative Ron DeSantis.

Networks described the race as too close to call as Gillum made his statement after DeSantis was leading 49.9% to 48.9% against the Tallahassee mayor.

Gillum called on Democrats to continue fighting for the causes he supported and stressed that he hoped more of his supporters would have shown up to vote.
