Trump Davos trip could be cancelled - report

White House officials are considering canceling United States President Donald Trump's Davos trip towards the end of this month if the government shutdown is not resolved by then, according to various media reports on Wednesday.

The White House announced the US delegation that would travel to Davos for the World Economic Forum earlier today. However, if the government shutdown is not resolved by January 22, around 800,000 government workers would not have been paid for 32 days while most federal agencies would only have limited operations. If the shutdown continues, it is highly probable that only Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will travel along with a significantly smaller US delegation.

Trump previously walked out of a meeting with United States Democrat Congressional leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday over the funding for his proposed southern border wall. They subsequently lambasted him for his "temper tantrum," calling his actions "unbecoming."
